| Summary: | Looking for a logo for myself as newly licensed professional MMA fighter. I have clear ideas of what I want but I do no necessarily want to box designers in as I know that stifles your creativity - so you are welcome to work around the guideline examples attached. The logo should be identifiable with me, and work in various context such as for website, on t-shirts, banners and shorts. I hope you accept this challenge, good luck! |
| Description: | I need a professional logo in the context of me as MMA (cage) fighter. I am only starting my career and want to start creating a brand-image that people can identify me with in time. So I want to use this on a shirt when walking in to the cage etc. About me, I am a more reserved person (the cool calculating type) - so I am not one of those extravagant loud-mouthed fighters. I like to do the talking in the cage in the match. However, I have done push ups after winning a fight, which is probably a bit spiteful - but that depends on the opponent lol. I am also a very durable fighter, so I can take a lot of punishment in the cage - and I therefore do not tap out easily. I like watching anime and I can also be seen as a console gamer. Barring this, I usually train. |
| Design Goals: | As mentioned, I have a clear idea of the base I want (attached to contest). However, I as also mentioned, I do not want to unnecessarily stifle creativity - so they are presented as examples and guidelines. If you have an alternate idea, it will be considered as well. Specifically, I have the following guidelines (all of them do not need to be in the same image (except maybe for 1), they are just ideas): 1) Beard, hair and eye brows as the base (see attached examples and pictures of me). The left eyebrow (when looking at the picture) should have a parallelogram design, as I have a cut there (which you can't see prominently - sorry about that) with some hair missing as a result. The other eyebrow should look - and might be a good distinguishing feature. 2) My name is Roevan de Beer, so the name might be used for designers with ideas along the lines of image a.jpg. You can also use RDB as initials in some way if needed. 3) I've seen "FEAR THE BEARD" online a lot, and perhaps a spin on my last name could also work, such as: "Fear de Beer" which might go well with the beard logo - as de Beer sounds like "the beer" which is near beard. But de Beer actually means "The Bear" - I am not a heavy weight, but that might also spur ideas. 4) Some people have called me Roevanidas (in reference to Leonidas, the Spartan). I am just mentioning this not sure if anyone might think that useful. 5) MMA gloves might also feature in the design if someone is thinking of that. 6) Maybe a bobble head type of design could also work as an idea, i.e. big head, small body. 7) A hexagon shape around the logo might also work well, as this is the shape of the cage we are competing in - not an octagon as it is in the UFC (I am not competing there, hopefully one day!). 8) Designs do not have to be, extremely, over-realistically drawn. |
| Design No-Gos: | Nothing too overly colorful. I was thinking black and white, which could easily be inverted to white and black and still be useful. So being conservative in coloring might work better than unicorn-rainbow type colors. No skulls and bones, I think this has been done too much and is not really my style. So perhaps no wings either. Other than this, I have no specific dislikes I can think of mentioning. |

Just let me give some advice as i know a thing or two about designs and being a Quality Analyst for Graphic Designs for over a period of around 3 years I think your first choice should be amongst Design number 2, 5, or 29 and if you really want the face on ur logo which i don't suggest, but it that is what you want go for design no. 89, 76 or 83 but having face over design is very old school and I won't suggest it.
