The font used for the heading,
and
Help Raise…to why….is not good. You choose another font.

The rays are good.
The background on top should be white, since the rays are a bit shaded.
This means using white lettering may not work.

The more space we can create the better buy doing the slating as you did in #2 and #3. That;s because we still want ti fit about 3 or 4 photos of the musicians somewhere. The photos will be availed in 24 hours.

Tinbot, thanks for your submission, #6,#7. I like that you have managed to fit in all the info in such a small space.
Your design style fits well with door nob distributions, where fliers would be hang on door knobs. But we just want a big flier on A4 paper. So you may make it bigger. This would also create more room for larger more visible fonts.Visibility is important because most of the fliers will be pasted on notice boards. The coloring--the background should be as white as possible. Nice work and thanks for your sentiments.

Font should be nice fonts. The Martin Luther quote--fonts used are unreadable and it can be a size smaller.
The child with cup in hand is wonderful.

The top of the flier need not have a photo of the slum as such. The designer can use his/her own discretion.

@Tinbot, re #1, Happy new year. Thank you for submitting. A few comments. 1. The fliers does capture the message yes. 2. We would like to have a more upbeat, inspiring flier--this is a concert--not a requiem (he he he). The picture especially the one on top is the opposite, i,e, there is no harm putting a pic of a hopeful little girl--even if malnourished. The situation we are addressing is unlike that in Turkana area where the effort was to save kids at the point of death. The situation afflicting 2.5 million people in Nairobi slums is that of chronic food deficiency. It is called hidden urban hunger. Its impact on the young ages 0-5 is lifelong. So perhaps we may have a pic of the sprawling Mathare slums as watermark (silhoute) then on top of watermark pics of hope. For example this blog has some pics: http://churchrelevance.com/the-hope-of-the-mathare-slum/. We don't have rights to those pics but they give idea. We hope that by the time this contest ends, we will have some fresh pics by our staff taken this week for the final output.

3. We would like most of the background to be transparent /white as the flier will be printed and photocopied (B&W) for mass distribution.
4. The quality of the flier should be high --just like a good concert flier. The Musicians and artists expected are some of the biggest household names in the music industry. We want people to feel like going to the concert--not to be depressed. That's the aim of the purpose of the flier. Some of the highlights of high quality poster--for example gold edges etc.
